Baggage
Baggage is the first installation in a larger body of work speaking on trauma, the resulting memory loss, and healing. This piece came barreling through me at a time of massive revelation into my past and how it has shaped the person I am today. All of the prior works in this body served as tools, allowing me to peer into the depths of myself through them upon finished critique. Baggage is the response to sight gained in this process of creation and reflection. Baggage is comprised of adobe bricks, plaster, and twine. These elements are pieced together in a space in a confused and claustrophobic manner, a visual representation of the condition of my mind in such a profound state of realization in my life.
